Carla is artistic director of award-winning theatre collective Bleeding Nora, associate company of Pound Arts in Wiltshire.
Her freelance directing work sits in new writing. She has presented work at leading new writing venues such as Theatre503, Oxford Playhouse, HighTide Festival, Finborough Theatre, Old Red Lion, VAULT Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe. She has worked extensively as an associate and assistant director both nationally and internationally, for directors James Grieve, Bruce Guthrie and Peter DuBois.
Her experience developing new work extends from script reading to supporting devising processes. She has worked on short plays and readings by exciting new playwrights for companies such as The Bush, Pint-Sized, PLAY Theatre Co., The Old Vic, Chelsea Theatre, Clapham Omnibus and The Pleasance.
She is an experienced facilitator and formerly Head of Drama at JG Dance Academy in Oxfordshire. She is a passionate advocate for community and participatory arts. She has run youth and community projects for organisations including Hoxton Hall, Young Vic and in association with Arts Council England. Other freelance teaching and facilitation work includes CSSD, ALRA and ArtsDepot.
Carla is associate producer for theatre consultants Studio Three Sixty, consulting on education and community engagement.
She is a Trustee of Dance Woking, a delegate of the Culture Reset and Change Creation programmes.
Membership includes StageDirectors UK, Arts Marketing Association and the Cultural Governance Alliance.
